A 12-strong Australian Nomads Golf team will travel across the ditch in February to take on the Kiwis in the inaugural Trans Tasman Cup.
The four-day event, which starts on February 18, will be played at Jacks Point, Millbrook’s Remarkables and Coronet courses, and The Hills.
The Australian team, to be captained by Chris Fichardt, includes Nell Schoeman, Deon Deetlifs, Iain Ross, Brian Crisp, Martin Lea, John Erasmus, Mark Skea, Tony Brugioni, Kevin Rule, Tyrone Skea and Gareth Honke.
Ray Parsons will captain the New Zealand team with John Phillpott as the non-playing manager. The rest of the team is Wayne Scholtz, Phil Strickland, Ken Buck, Ian Braddock, Paul Hartley, Andrew Hipkiss, Grant Marshall, Malcolm Hudson, Peter Cotton and Glenn Wilson.
The four Queenstown area courses are among the best in New Zealand. It is hoped that the Trans Tasman Cup will become an annual event, played in New Zealand and Australia on alternate years.
On day one at Jacks Point six two ball better ball stableford matches will be played with six competition points up for grabs.
On day two at Millbrook’s Remarkables course two-man teams will play alternate shot foursomes, again with six points up for grabs.
On day three at Millbrook’s Coronet course two man teams will play a combined stableford per hole match play, again with six point up for grabs.
The final day at The Hills will see 12 singles matches played with 12 points available.
The winner of the Trans Tasman Cup will be the first team to accumulate a minimum of 15.5 points.
